Ads and Linkbacks

VlexoFree staff have tried their best to make including a linkback and/or ad as easy as possible.

The type of advertising required depends on the package you have chosen; For more information, please see the table below.

Note: You can have no more than 3 ads, regardless of size, on your website under the Google Ad Policy

Inserting the Linkback

A link back to VlexoFree is required by all free hosting plans and all it requires you to do is make a link that says something like “This site is hosted by VlexoFree Hosting “ on all your sites' displayed web pages.

You can also use our shortcut system for this task and insert the following code (exactly how you see it) into your pages’ HTML where you want the link to be:

This will automatically be turned into: (with link)

To match your sites content you can surround the shortcut code in a P tag, SPAN tag, H1 tag, or whatever tag you want to match your content.

Note: The linkback must be for VlexoFree at vlexofree.com, Not Vlexo at vlexo.com

Inserting the Ad

General Ad

To Insert the Ad, you will first need to chose your preferred ad size. After that all you have to do is copy and paste (exactly as it appears) the corresponding HTML comment code into the HTML of your web pages where you want the ad to be and the server will do the rest:

Note: You must use the comment code (below) for the ad, Not the actual source code for the ad.

You can choose from the following:

• Horizontal Leaderboard Ad (728px x 90px). For this one, you would insert the following code:

• Vertical Skyscraper Ad (160px x 600px). For this one, you would insert the following code:

• Medium Rectangle Ad (300px x 250px). For this one, you would insert the following code:

Please Note! The Ad Code MUST be used, as it also includes a Privacy Link - Under no circumstances must you remove this!

Advanced: Custom Style Ad

The custom style ad is special ad comment code that has the potential to include custom color styles that you can use to make the ad match the style of your website. To make use of this, copy the ad comment to where you want the ad on your site and between the START and END comments put the style codes that you want to use.

The codes for these are:

• Horizontal Leaderboard Ad (728px x 90px). For this one, you would insert the following code:

Allowed style codes

Below are the style codes that you are allowed to use to between the start and end comments. You can replace the hex color code with whatever color matches your site. If you are caught using any other code to modify ads in any way your account will be terminated.

Troubleshooting

The ad or linkback does not show up

If the ad or linkback does not show up on your page after you add the comment first make sure you have gzip compression disabled in your php application if you’re using (CMS, blog, forums, etc) as the comment will not work if the code is compressed before apache gets to see it.

The ad does not show up but you see the "Privacy" link

If the ad does not show up but you see the privacy link you need to add the following to your robots.txt file:
